Since the beginning of this whole quarantine thing, I’ve become more of a fun mom. I’ve made moon dough, play doh, bought a lot more watercolors, paints, and other fun craft supplies. Normally, I do not like messes and rarely let the boys get the paints out. I tell them that’s what school’s for 😉
But, since we haven’t been able to go anywhere, I’ve done a lot more craft activities with them. The boys have LOVED all the extra arts and crafts that they’ve gotten to do. We’ve even started sending off some of their art work to family and friends for some fun mail.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed the moon dough! It was super easy to make, inexpensive, and the kids LOVED it. And I loved it. It was actually fun to play with and felt so good on my hands!
You can make moon dough two different ways – with conditioner or baby lotion. I had an extra bottle of cheap conditioner on hand so I went with that! I also love that this recipe only uses two (or three) ingredients! It is so quick and easy to make.
How to make moon dough:
1 cup Conditioner or Baby lotion (I used conditioner)
2 cups Corn starch
Food coloring (optional)
I poured my conditioner in a bowl and added a half a cup of corn starch at a time. Depending on the conditioner that you’re using, you’ll need varying amounts of corn starch. The easiest way to do it is to just slowly add the corn starch until you have the consistency you’re looking for. Once it’s all mixed in, add your food coloring!
We’ve had so much fun playing with this! If you’ve made this or try this recipe, let me know how you and your kiddos like it!
